[edit] Game Information

F.E.A.R. (First Encounter Assault Recon) is an intense combat experience with rich atmosphere and an engaging story.

The story begins as an unidentified paramilitary force infiltrates a multi-billion dollar aerospace compound, taking hostages but issuing no demands. The government responds by sending in special forces, but loses contact as an eerie signal interrupts radio communications. When the interference subsides moments later, the team has been obliterated. Live footage of the massacre shows an inexplicable wave of destruction tearing the soldiers apart before they can even react.

As part of a classified strike team created to deal with threats no one else can handle, your mission is simple: Eliminate the intruders at any cost. Determine the origin of the signal. And contain this crisis before it spirals out of control.

[edit] Widescreen Support

  • F.E.A.R. version 1.08 has full widescreen support for resolutions up to 1440x900.
  • Older versions of F.E.A.R. (First Encounter Assault Recon) do not have native widescreen support. To force a custom resolution go to the following directory 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Monolith Productions\FEAR' and open the file 'settings.cfg' with a text editor (such as Notepad).

The two lines we are interested in are "ScreenWidth" and "ScreenHeight".

Change these to your desired resolution. For example, if you want a resolution of 1440x900, it should look like this:

"ScreenWidth" "1440"
"ScreenHeight" "900"

Changing the resolution also changes the FOV so there is no need to do anything else.

Please note, going into the 'Options > Display' menu will reset the resolution to 640x480.
